Since 1997, the artist Sabine Plamper is working on the long-term art project Miniaturaria. For this project, she collects miniatures off the streets of different countries. All miniatures of one country belong to a particular Miniaturarium.
At present, there are Miniaturaria from Germany (1997), the Netherlands (1998), Belgium (1999), Portugal (2000), Greece (1997) and Russia (2003).
The Miniaturaria include characteristic rural miniatures, which are marked by culture, religion, language and/or climate. There are also miniatures with a common natural or multicultural character.
The tension between differences and common grounds make every Miniaturarium unique and the whole Miniaturaria-collection a valuable contemporary document.
